When pets go missing time is of the essence, thats why we are here working on call 24/7 to help them return home safely. The process begins almost immediately (that is why we have such a high success rate) and takes up to 24 hours to fully complete.
Each Amber Alert is analyzed on a case by case basis by our staff. Posters are first designed, printed and sent out to all recipients by express mail, fax and e-mail. Depending on what time and day your report is submitted it may take less or more time to complete. Usually it will take anywhere from 5 to 24 hours to fully process.
As many of you may already know, printing flyers to post in your neighborhood can be quite expensive. Bulk printing and postage for our posters has ranged from 10 to 20 cents per poster. Rush printing of 200 individually addressed posters can run as high as 20 cents per poster. For a 100 poster order that’s as much as $40 just in postage and printing (not including labor). You could do this yourself if you wanted, but we don’t think you could do it as fast and precise as we can.
Most Shelter/Vet alerting services are not very effective because they are sent by email only. It does not include any costs for the company, but the alerts will never be received or read. Many of the alerts will get caught by the spam filter, deleted and will not be printed or posted by the staff. PetAmberAlerts are actual posters that are sent via Express mail and fax directly into the hands of the recipients.
We are a certified TRUSTe’s® sealholder. TRUSTe Sealholders include the most trustworthy online businesses. PetAmberAlert’s are sent via Express Mail directly into the hands of the recipients. We can also provide you with a list of shelters/vets contacted for you to follow up and for verification that the alerts have been received (we guarantee an 99% delivery rate).
We serve over 10,000 customers every year. We do our best in every case however it is impossible to find every lost pet due to the circumstances. When someone’s pet is lost, they are worried and grieving. They are at a point when it is very easy to pass blame onto someone for the problem. When pets are not found it this results in unsatisfied customers and poor reviews.
No. Agencies do not need to register to receive alerts however they may register to receive alerts via fax instead of express mail. As long as an agencies exists and is listed in public records they will receive alerts.
For the fastest delivery time possible, your posters will ship from one of two locations. If your posters will be delivered in the eastern half of the United States/Canada they will ship from our East Coast processing center located in New York.
Pets are driven by strong survival instincts and can survive a long time without access to food and water. Pet owners often give up looking for their pets due to what is known as grief avoidance. They can’t bear to think that their pet is out there hungry and on their own so they conclude that he is dead and try to move on. Try not to think like this. Remember your pet doesn’t think like a human, they aren’t thinking “I miss home” and having emotional feelings. It is likely that they are just trying to survive and are probably doing a good job of it.
Yes, large and strong dogs can travel over 100 miles in 1-2 weeks. Smaller pets that have been gone for a long time can also travel over 100 miles easily. Birds that have good flight skills can also travel quite a distance from home with the help of the wind!

It is not required but a little extra incentive could not hurt. We recommend that if you do choose to provide a reward don’t specify an amount — simply place the word REWARD.
Please contact out support staff through our contact form or by phone and let them know that your pet has been found. Please also read out Terms of Service regarding refund periods.
It is important to make certain to inform all places you contacted (including us!) and remove flyers. Otherwise, valuable time is wasted which could be used for pets who are still missing.

No. PetAmberAlert.com is a supplemental tool to help in the search for your lost pet. The website helps save time by getting the word out about lost pets quickly to many people in your area. Pet owners should follow our Pet Recovery Guide and search locally in their community by posting fliers and visiting organizations.
Featured Pet listings will remain on our website for 120 days or until they are found. Remember it is important to notify us if your pet is found so valuable time is wasted which could be used for pets who are still missing.
We do not report to “every” single agency within the area due to the fact that is an expensive process and not financially possible for the fee provided. The alerts are sent via priority mail and only to the agencies that would be most beneficial to the case. Smaller vets/pet stores who do not handle lost pets VS. animal shelters, animal control agencies and adoption centers who would be beneficial.
On the PetAmberAlert.com homepage, there is a box on the right side that reads, “Neighborhood Watch” In that box, simply click “Sign up for Neighborhood Watch”. You will then receive Amber Pet Alerts within 50-200 miles of your registered zip code.
Amber Pet Alerts are sent to members within a 50-150 mile radius of where a pet was last seen. Large pets, and pets that have been missing for a long time can travel that far.
