Is PetAmberAlert legit?
Straight answers about how we charge, what you get and how to reach a person.
When your pet is missing, the last thing you need is a surprise on your card or a service you can’t reach. Here are straight answers to the questions people ask us most before they sign up.
Is PetAmberAlert a real company?
Yes. PetAmberAlert has helped reunite more than 10,000 pets with their families. Our support hotline is open 24/7, so you can always talk to a person at 1-877-875-7387.
Reporters have covered our alerts, including NBC New York, FOX 8 Cleveland, FOX 10 Phoenix, ABC15 Phoenix, 7NEWS Denver, 13WHAM ABC Rochester, Boston.com (The Boston Globe), the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, the Chicago Sun-Times and The Washington Post. See all press coverage.
Do you charge again later?
No. Each paid alert is a single one-time charge. There is no subscription, nothing renews, and your card is never billed again for that alert. The price you see on the package is the whole price.
Is there a free option?
Yes. A lost or found pet listing is free. It goes into our lost and found search right away and comes with a printable flyer. People reach you through a form, so your phone number stays private. Found-pet reports are always free.
What exactly do I get if I pay?
Paid alerts are optional, and each one says exactly what it includes:
- 25-mile alert, $49.95 one-time: a recorded phone alert to 250 neighbors and up to 25 flyer faxes to vets and shelters.
- 50-mile alert, $99.95 one-time: 500 neighbors called and up to 50 flyer faxes.
- 100-mile alert, $189.95 one-time: 1,250 neighbors called and up to 100 flyer faxes.
Every paid alert also includes a social media boost on Facebook and Instagram near where your pet was last seen, Pet Detective analysis (a personalized search plan, flyer and post drafts, and check-in emails on days 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30), an ongoing investigation on your case page, and phone support. How do the alerts work?
Neighbors near where your pet was last seen get a recorded phone message about your pet. Nearby vets and shelters get your flyer by fax, so staff can post it at the front desk, because a found pet often ends up at a vet or shelter. We also boost your pet’s flyer on Facebook and Instagram to people near the last-seen spot. Your alert starts going out within 1 hour of your order, and all calls and faxes are fully processed within 24 hours. Anyone who spots your pet reaches you through your listing. See how it works.
How fast does my alert go out?
Your alert starts going out within 1 hour of your order. All neighbor calls and vet and shelter faxes are fully processed within 24 hours. Your free listing is in our search right away.
What if my alert doesn’t go out as described?
Our written satisfaction guarantee covers that. We guarantee your alert goes out as described for the package you chose. If something went wrong on our end, for example the alert wasn’t sent, went to the wrong area or had the wrong details, tell us and we’ll make it right, such as re-sending it at no charge. Add-on features like Pet Detective are covered for 90 days. Read the guarantee.
Can I get a refund?
We’d rather be clear up front than surprise you later. Alerts are processed as soon as you order, because we pay for the calls and faxes when the alert is sent, so a paid alert can’t be cancelled and isn’t refundable once processed. If you were charged twice for the same alert, or charged for an alert we never processed, we refund that charge to the card you used. Read the refund policy.
Can you promise my pet will be found?
No, and no honest service can. Your payment covers sending the alert to the area you chose and the features in your package, not the outcome. What an alert does is put many more eyes on the search, fast.
How do I reach a real person?
Call our support hotline at 1-877-875-7387. It’s open 24/7. You can also email [email protected], or use the live chat on any page of our site.
Is my information private?
Yes. We never show your exact address. Listings show only nearby cross streets or the town. People who see your pet contact you through a form, so your phone number stays private on a free listing. With a paid alert you can choose our toll-free line instead of your own number, and we pass messages on to you. We never keep your full card number. Payments go through a secure card processor. Read our privacy policy.
I got a call about a lost pet. How do I stop future calls?
Our neighbor calls are short recorded messages about a pet lost near you. If you’d rather not get them, add your number on our do-not-call opt-out page.
What to look for in any lost pet service
- A price that’s charged once, with nothing that renews.
- A free way to get started.
- A real phone number that a person answers, day or night.
- A written guarantee and refund policy you can read before you pay.
- No promise that your pet will definitely be found.
We meet every one of these.
